PERSONAL READING

  1. EVERYONE should have a personal reading book (one that is chosen by the student) selected and with them at all times.
  2. Personal reading books are used in the classroom when work is finished OR when the student is assigned to the personal reading center. Reading time is also a homework assignment for each night - at least 30 minutes.
  3. Books may be chosen from the classroom library, the school library, the public library, or home.
  4. Students are required to read a specific number of books for the school year which cover many genres (types) of literature.
  5. Refer to the Personal Reading Requirements tab for a list of required reading for the YEAR.

Choose a personal reading book: Your first assignment is to choose a personal reading book. For now, just choose something that interests you. In class we will learn how readers decide what they want to read. For those of you who don't like to read - you still need a book - just make sure you choose a subject that you like. No catalogs or magazines for now, please.
